  5. There are a few changes to the system.  Some of the message bases have been
  6. removed and additional ones have been added.
  7.  
  8. File maintenance has been completed and non-accessed files, file not
  9. downloaded between 12-91/6-92 have been deleted.
  10.  
  11. Happy New Year from everyone at Z*Net.  This year we begin our 8th year
  12. running this BBS system.  Thanks go to all of the 53000 plus callers over
  13. that time.

  22. Z*Net Atari Online Magazine has returned and Issue #17 is available now!

  24. We have switched computers and now running on an Atari MegaSTe.  Your
  25. accessing of different areas will increase along with message base
  26. searching.

  29. 10-25-92  SYSTEM UPDATE

  31. Z*Net Atari Online returns the on the first Friday of November and will
  32. be released weekly thereafter.
  33.  
  34. Z*Net PC has ceased publishing until January 1993.  At that time we will
  35. return to regular release.

  38. 9-13-92 ANNOUNCEMENT - SYSTEM UPDATE
  39.  
  40. With regret, I sadly announce the death of Stan Lowell, long time writer,
  41. friend, Z*Magazine developer and BBS Sysop.  Stan passed away on September
  42. 11, 1992 of a heart attack.  A special edition of Z*Magazine is currently
  43. being developed in his honor and we have suspended publishing for one
  44. week.  Atari Explorer Online Magazine will commence weekly release on
  45. September 19, 1992.

  50. 9-7-92  SYSTEM UPDATE
  51.  
  52. The FidoDoor has been closed to the general membership.  However, there
  53. are bases being ported over that are private.  These areas are for testing
  54. and SysOp discussions.  After a few weeks of testing, I will add additional
  55. conferences for everyone.
  56.  
  57. Message Area #17 has been changed to the Atari Europe Conference which is
  58. lead by Node 635.  It is an area for discussion about european Atari
  59. software and hardware.  Look for it to commence shortly.
  60.  
  61. Message base "read" counters have been reset as most of the message areas
  62. have been reset.  To update your counters, read the messages in reverse one
  63. time.

  68. 9-1-92  SYSTEM UPDATE

  70. AtariNet is now functioning.  Message Base #20 is now called AtariNet -
  71. General and is a port of the network conference.  Additional bases from
  72. AtariNet will be added shortly.  Before you start posting messages in this
  73. conference, please read the AtariNet Policy rules in the bulletin area.

  76. Message areas 10 - 17 - 21 have been closed.  A new MiNT conference will
  77. commence shortly at Message Base #10.

  82. 8-9-92   SYSTEM UPDATE

  84. AtariNet (FidoDoor) access will begin shortly.  As you may be aware from
  85. recent calls, there is a system in place that is NOT accessible to local
  86. users until we have everything configured properly.
  87.  
  88. A new message base has been added for PC users.  CheckBox Software support
  89. is now available.
  90.  
  91. There has been a few problems with the system locking up while attempting
  92. processing of new mail via FNET.  If you come across any errors while you
  93. are online, please excuse them while we expand the system.

  96. 7-26-92  SYSTEM UPDATE
  97.  
  98. - One partition trashed itself overnight.  We lost 50 files and some
  99.   messages.  Area has been Zeroed and re-started.  No other problems
  100.   found.
  101.  
  102. - Atari 8-Bit download library added to the system in slot #16.
  103.  
  104. - Ignore All_File contents until next weekend.  Contents may list files
  105.   lost in the partition crash.
  106.  
  107. - FNET SFL files were lost due to trashed partition.
  108.

  110. 7-25-92  SYSTEM UPDATE
  111.  
  112. - New message bases have been added and non active removed.
  113.  
  114. - Z*Net PC Issue #33 is available.
  115.  
  116. - All_File files have been placed in each library and updated weekly.
  117.  
  118. - Database Area #4 has been repaired and available.  This area contains a
  119.   listing of all the files on the system and is updated automatically
  120.   every evening.  Once a week this area is compressed and arced up into
  121.   the All_files that are contained in each library.
  122.  
  123. - Politics Poll added in the Doors area (J).  Please take a few minutes
  124.   out and take it.  Next week a system poll will be added.  Look for an
  125.   updated POLL on the presidential race in August.
  126.  
  127. - SEE game will be restarted at the end of the month.  ALL USERS WILL BE
  128.   REMOVED AT THAT TIME FROM THE GAME!

  135. 7-6-92 SYSTEM UPDATE
  136.  
  137. There are a number of changes to the system that are listed below:
  138.  
  139. - A new library has been setup for the Most Popular files downloaded from
  140.   the BBS.  Files included in (#15 - Best Of) are from any of the other
  141.   libraries with large downloads.  The only exception are Z*Net and Atari
  142.   Explorer Online Magazine issues.
  143.  
  144. - IBM OS/2 files have been added to the system.  As with all files, they
  145.   are first located in the NEW FILES library and then moved to Library #14
  146.   where they will reside.
  147.  
  148. - AEO - Atari Explorer Online is now back to weekly release every Friday!
  149.  
  150. - 34 Passwords have been removed for non-activity.  A reminder!!  All
  151.   passwords not used for over 60 days are deleted from the system!
  152.  
  153. - Regular users have been given MORE time.  Enjoy!
  154.  
  155. - Space Empire Elite has been running since mid May without any problems.
  156.   Please join the game!  Maxidoor and SEE are available at J from the
  157.   Main Menu.

  161. 5-2-92 SYSTEM UPDATE

  163. All 1992 Z*Net Online (Atari) issues have been relocated to the Z*Net
  164. 1991-1992 library.  All Atari Explorer Online Magazine issues will be
  165. found in Library #4.

  167. The first edition of Atari Explorer is NOW available for downloading.
  168.  
  169. We are also working on the addition of AtariNet to the system, stay tuned
  170. for details.

  175. Two new libraries have been added.  The GAMES and IBM areas.  Game were
  176. relocated from the General Library and IBM files were extracted from the
  177. Z*Net PC Library.

  182. Database updated.  Added auto-updated file listings and menu item (4).
  183. Updated Ranking file for systems users.  Now you can see where you are
  184. ranked with other members on this system.

  188. 4-19-92  SYSTEM UPDATE

  190. The Professional Baseball Conference has been ended and replaced with
  191. the Telecommunications SIG.
  192.  
  193. MaxiDoor has been activated and is located at command "J".  Please
  194. report any online problems to Sysop.
  195.  
  196. Space Empire Elite has been restarted and can also be found behind the
  197. "J" command.  The game will restart May 1, 1992.

  202. 4-13-92  SYSTEM UPDATE
  203.  
  204. The system has been expanded with 44 megs of drive space.  Three more
  205. libraries have been added and will be merged shortly.  These areas will
  206. contain older editions of Z*Net Online Magazine from 1989-1991.
  207.  
  208. Older Z*Magazine issues have been added to the system.  They can all be
  209. found in the Z*Mag library.
